Sign up and sign in with email. You no longer need a Google account: just enter your name, email, WhatsApp number, and a password, then type in the 6-digit code we send to your email.
Forgot your password? Tap "Forgot password" on the sign-in screen and we will email you a code to set a new one.
Signing in with a WhatsApp code has been discontinued because the codes often failed to arrive. Your WhatsApp number still lives in your profile so group coordinators can reach you.
Used to sign in with WhatsApp? Add an email in your Profile, then set a password. If you already created a new account with the same number, an admin will merge it into your old account so your reading history is not lost.
Ready for iOS 27.
Version 1.8.2
August 30, 2026
Taking a task now feels instant. Previously, after tapping "take task", the button would spin for a second or two. It turned out the server was recalculating the whole group task list just because one row changed. Now it only recalculates the task that changed, which measured 15 to 84 times faster.
The task list refreshes on its own. When another member takes a task, your screen updates right away, with no more pulling down to reload.
Version 1.8.1
August 30, 2026
Your report appears the moment you tap Done, with no waiting. Previously, the more pages you read, the longer the screen sat still before the report showed. Your tajweed summary was actually ready on your phone from that very second; the slow part was sending it to the server, and the app waited for that first for no good reason. Now the report shows first and the upload happens in the background.
Long readings can no longer get lost. If you read many pages in one session, the upload to the server could be rejected for being too large, and the app used to swallow that failure silently, so your reading was not recorded at all and you were never told. Now progress is sent bit by bit while you read, and if anything fails to send, you are notified.
Words you fix are no longer recorded as mistakes. If a word was red and you then repeated it correctly, its mistake record is now truly removed from your Reading Report, not just recolored on screen.
Good-deed counts and Cahaya levels are more accurate. An old bug could inflate the counts if the app briefly went to the background while you were reading. It is now fixed.
Group task lists are no longer stale. Some groups showed an old task list for days because of a server error. It is now fixed.
Version 1.8.0
August 23, 2026
Tartil Mode, a new feature. Until now, a word lit up green as soon as it was heard; that did not judge whether it was recited according to the rules of tajweed. Now every task card has a Tartil Mode switch. When it is on, words whose madd length, ghunnah (nasalization), ikhfa, and qalqalah are correct light up GOLD instead of just green.
Mistaken words turn red, and you can fix them. Repeat the word with the correct recitation and it turns gold right away. Red is never permanent within a session.
The app will not accuse you when it is unsure itself. If the audio evidence is weak, the word simply stays green instead of turning red. The same goes for rules that have more than one valid recitation: Mad Jaiz Munfasil may be 2, 4, or 5 harakat, and Mad Aridh lis-Sukun may be 2, 4, or 6. Reciting short on rules like these is NOT counted as a mistake.
Reading Report. After tapping Done you immediately see a summary per rule, and the full report is saved under Menu → Session Archive: which rules you got right, which words need work, and how many harakat they should have been.
Leaderboard, badges, and Tartil tiers. A separate leaderboard measures the ACCURACY of your recitation rather than how much you read, so those who read a little but with tartil still have a place. Plus 6 new badges and a ladder of Tartil tiers from Meniti to Mutqin.
Tartil Mode is entirely optional and OFF by default. Recitation whose tajweed is not yet right STILL counts as read: your pages, khatam, and reading assignments are never reduced because of it. It is a practice aid, not a replacement for learning directly from a teacher.
Fix: the Done button, which sometimes seemed unresponsive on a shaky connection, now has a time limit and a "Saving…" indicator, so a session can always be closed.
Fix: the Profile page now has a back button. Previously you could not leave it without closing the app.
The reading engine download (73 MB) is now served over the Cloudflare network, making it faster and more resilient to interruptions, including for apps already installed.
Version 1.7.5
August 22, 2026
The recitation engine now truly runs INSIDE your iPhone. Previously, in the App Store version, the on-device engine could never be switched on, so readings had to be processed on the server. Now your voice is processed right on your phone: it is not sent anywhere, and it keeps working even when your signal is poor.
Only the list of words read is sent to the server, never the voice recording.
Note: Android users have enjoyed this since version 1.7.0; now iPhone catches up.
Version 1.7.4
August 22, 2026
An important fix for iPhone users: the reading screen that "kept spinning" and never opened the mushaf is now handled. If the reading engine fails to start, the app automatically switches to server mode and you can still read, instead of being stuck on a loading screen.
The app will no longer go quiet without explanation. Every screen that fails to load now shows a clear message with a "Try again" button, and every request to the server has a time limit. If the network stalls, you are told, rather than left waiting forever.
The recitation engine is now prepared in the background as soon as the app opens. Tapping a task feels much faster because the setup that used to wait until you tapped "read" is already done.
Loading the recitation engine is also lighter and uses less memory, so the app is more stable on phones with limited RAM.
The Menu (rightmost icon) is now a regular tab: the bottom bar stays visible when it is open, so switching to Tasks, Explore, or Leaderboard takes a single tap with no back button needed.
Moving between pages now happens instantly, without a slide animation. The old animation looked "see-through" because the paper background was shared by every page; now the transition is clean and feels lighter.
Version 1.7.3
August 21, 2026
Your rank now appears as a small number badge on the "Leaderboard" icon in the bottom bar, so you can see your position at a glance without opening the page.
Khatam History tidied up: the repeated group name and "Cycle #" label are gone, "Khatam" status is a single check mark, and Tadarus status shows the percentage reached without the extra "deadline passed" note.
Khatam cycle details now show a photo of every contributing reader (not just a number), plus a short explanation of the ordering.
The group page shows the khatam count explicitly (0 = never completed), and the rarely used "Map" button and "Created by" note were removed to keep it compact.
Profile tidied up: shortcuts already in the Menu (Archive & Notifications) are no longer duplicated here.
Photos (avatars & group photos) are now optimized on the server and cached in the app, so images show faster and use less data.
Badge & level collection expanded: new badges for daily consistency (istiqamah), total good deeds, recitation time, khatam contributions, and special days (Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, Indonesian Independence Day on August 17, and more), plus 10 new sky-themed levels up to "Puncak Cahaya" (Peak of Light).
Version 1.7.2
August 20, 2026
A major accuracy fix for the green highlighting while reading. Previously, green often filled in only partly once you turned the page: the first page was complete, the next only a fragment. Now the recitation engine stays "warm" as you turn pages, so your reading is recorded more completely from the start to the end of each page.
The reading pointer is more resilient when you move between verses or pages or pause for a moment. Recovery is much better, so fewer words are missed.
Note: the green highlight may appear a fraction of a second later than before, but the result is far more complete.
Version 1.7.1
Desktop (Mac · Windows · Linux)August 15, 2026
BerQuran is now available for computers: macOS, Windows, and Linux! Read the Quran on your laptop or PC with the same recitation engine as on your phone. It runs right on your device (on-device), saves data, and works offline.
Auto-update: the desktop app updates itself when a new version is out (macOS & Windows through signed updates, Linux through AppImage).
macOS: universal (Apple Silicon & Intel), requires macOS 13 (Ventura) or later. Windows: .zip file. Linux: AppImage. Sign in with a WhatsApp OTP.
Download from the berquran.com home page (choose the macOS / Windows / Linux icon).
Version 1.7.1
August 13, 2026
The leaderboard is now unlimited: scroll to the bottom to see ALL readers, no longer stopping at the top 100.
Green highlighting in the mushaf for a task is now kept separate per cycle & per group: taking a task with the same pages in another cycle or group starts fresh (your personal reading outside tasks is still saved as usual).
Recitation recognition runs on your phone (on-device) as the main mode. It saves data and works offline, and the server remains an automatic backup when needed.
Big improvements in stability & speed when many people are reading at the same time.
Version 1.7.0
August 13, 2026
Recitation recognition now runs DIRECTLY on your phone (on-device): your voice does not need to be sent to the server, you can read without internet, and it uses less data.
During initial setup, the app downloads the recognition engine once (about 73 MB), so please use Wi-Fi. If the download fails, you can still read via the server as usual.
More accurate, noise-resistant recognition for everyday phone audio.
A "please update" screen appears when your app version is too old, so every reader uses the latest engine.
Stability & performance improvements.
Version 1.6.0
August 12, 2026
New "Notifications" page: reopen every notification you have ever received (announcements, reminders, tasks, and group activity) complete with details and links, even after they are gone from your phone screen.
The bell icon on Home shows how many notifications are unread; tap it to open them all.
Tap a notification to jump straight to the related group or task, or to open its link.
Stability & performance improvements.
Version 1.5.0
August 10, 2026
Share groups & tasks: send a link to anyone. If they already have BerQuran, the link opens that group or task directly; if not, they see its web page with a button to install the app.
A "Share" button is now on the group screen and on every reading task.
Realtime fixes: removing or claiming participants & auto-splitting tasks show up immediately, with no need to close and reopen the app.
The close-khatam-cycle button has been fixed: faster and easier to find.
A khatam now counts once 90% of the pages are completed.
Complete your profile (name) so you do not appear as "BerQuran User".
Group & task pages on the web now have tidy link previews when shared.
Stability & performance improvements.
Version 1.4.0
August 9, 2026
Direct chat (DMs) with fellow readers: send messages & photos, with an "allow messages" privacy setting (on by default), blocking, and reporting. Photos in chat are deleted automatically after 24 hours.
The full Leaderboard (all readers) can now be viewed, plus a members-only leaderboard inside each group.
Group photos now appear in the group list.
Chat, leaderboards, and group photos are now also available on the web (berquran.com).
Stability & performance improvements.

Sharing reading recap cards & the Session Archive are now available on all devices.
AI model attribution updated: Zipformer (by Muno459) trained on the EveryAyah & Muaalem datasets, in line with the license terms.
Stability and performance improvements.
Version 1.3.0
August 7, 2026
The reading engine now runs directly on your device (on-device): more accurate, uses less data, and keeps working even with a weak signal.
Group Wall: share news, encouragement, and discussions with the members of your reading group.
Profile bio: write a short introduction about yourself.
A notice when an app update is available.
Version 1.2.1
August 5, 2026
Auto-split reading tasks: group coordinators can divide the whole Quran into many parts in one tap. Enter 30 for exactly one juz per task.
You can choose to replace all existing tasks when re-splitting, with a confirmation.
Khatam counts now appear on the leaderboard.
Version 1.2.0
August 4, 2026
Share your reading recap: place a stats card over your own photo, then share it to your Story or WhatsApp.
Six Islamic-inspired card styles: Arabic calligraphy (Kufic & Naskh scripts), geometric patterns, and more.
Choose which stats appear (pages, words, sessions, good deeds) and your level emblem on the card.
Session Archive: all your reading sessions are saved, so you can open and re-share their cards anytime.
The page count in your recap now matches the pages actually read in that session.
Coordinators can now edit a group’s name & description directly from the web.
Signing out is smoother, with a confirmation and a gentle transition.
Version 1.1.6
August 2, 2026
A new mushaf-inspired look: warm paper background, classic typefaces, and more harmonious colors.
Bottom menu icons now have an Islamic style (a mushaf on a rihal stand, a lantern, a trophy, an eight-pointed star).
Ranks 1 to 10 use a distinct trophy for each position, from gold, silver, and bronze to a range of gemstones.
Group history separates Khatam (all pages 100% complete) from Tadarus (cycle ended before completion).
On user profiles, the group list shows photos and opens each group directly.
Group managers and admins can now send announcements (broadcasts) to members.
Version 1.1.5
August 2, 2026
Levels are now based on the number of words you read: fairer and you can feel the progress, with adjusted tiers.
Level badges appear next to names on the leaderboard and in group member lists.
Group card: "Verses read" now totals all khatam cycles, and "Khatam N×" is always visible.
Each new khatam cycle starts from 0: the current cycle’s progress no longer inherits readings from the previous one.
Khatam History shows how much you contributed in each cycle.
The Explore and group pages open much faster.
Version 1.1.1
July 27, 2026
The group page now shows the progress of every reading task (yours and other members’) complete with percentages.
A stats card at the top of each group: total verses read, progress toward khatam, and number of members.
On the group search page, each group shows a progress bar toward khatam.
Your reading progress is still saved even if you leave without tapping “Done”.
Mushaf page: landscape mode (phone turned sideways) is fixed so the text no longer gets jumbled, and you can now pinch to zoom.
The profile page was tidied up and the “Sign out” button made clearer.
The “Create group” button moved next to the search field so the bottom menu no longer covers it.
Version 1.1.0
July 27, 2026
BerQuran is now available for iPhone & iPad on the App Store.
Sign in with Apple for iPhone & iPad users, alongside the WhatsApp and Google options.
Version 1.0.4
July 27, 2026
While downloading content (model & mushaf), rotating tips on tajweed and makharij al-huruf (letter articulation points) appear, so the wait is time well spent.
Every task now automatically shows its surah & verse range, e.g. “Al-Baqarah 285 – Ali ‘Imran 5”, not just page numbers.
Group creators and claimers appear by their user names, not their WhatsApp numbers or emails.
Messages when a download fails are clearer and friendlier (no technical jargon).

A new bottom menu: a single glass button that glides smoothly between tabs.
The sign-in page was tidied up.
